However, besides the obvious tasks such as designing websites and mobile applications, coding skills can make you stand out among thousand of candidates. Many jobs that are completely unrelated to coding can be an opportunity for you to try.

      When you learn to code, it does not mean that you just sit and write code. Learning to code can help you land any positions and your opportunity can be wider. If you are wondering, just look at the list below for non-coding jobs when you know how to code:

      Learning to code can help you in Writing/ Content

      1. Technical writer

      This is like most of writing jobs. Technical writer can write internal documentattion, create customer support materials or come up with blog content.

      Learning to code will make you be better because: When you know how to code, you can understand what you are talking about. You can use the correct terminologies for the subject. It is tough if you don’t understand the topic. Readers who know the given topic will discover quickly if you are trying to write about the unknow subject. In addition, you will have some creative ideas for the content if you learn to code.

      1. Instructional designer

      Instructional designer are similar to technical writer, except that instructional designers focus on creating learning materials. Sometimes, this position involves producing some kinds of video or documentation and also learning softwares. And your job can be for internal (within the company) or external use (for customers).

      Learning to code will make you be better because: This role involves communicating technical concepts to the non-technical. Many instructional designers not only develop scripts and content, but also know how to use different e-learing software as well as basic HTML for formatting online content.

      1. Project manager

      Project managers are needed in a wide variety of industries. They typically manage budgets as well as timelines for projects, and they also explain and coordinate project deliverables with coordinate teams of engineers, designers and managers.

In fact, the project manager is the link between the team and upper management. So, if you can understand each person’s roles and duties, you will be more effective project manager.

      Product managers develop a product experience from product planning to execution. They work with engineers, sales, marketing and support to ensure goals for products are met.

And, as a product manager, you may expect the wireframe or sketch out ideas. It means that you will have to have skills with certain tools and applications which require some basic technical knowledge. Moreover, if you are giving instructions to others on how to create or build something, being able to understand the limitations and functionalities of the product will make this task much easier for you.

      1. User experience (UX) designer

      UX is the wide-ranging field which can include everything from research to designing user-friendly products. Ultimately, the user is the center of a UX’s world. And their goal is to make products or websites easy to use.

      Learning to code will make you be better because: UX designers have to collaborate with other people such as product managers and engineers. Besides the familiarity with design principles and standards, many UX designers know how to code themselves, because code can help them to quickly prototype applications as well as understand the limitations of what engineering or development teams can create.

      UX and UI are two terms that are easily misunderstanding. UI focuses on the interface, or the appearance, more than the actual experience of using a product. So, basically, UI is more like the design, while UX focuses on the structure.

      Learning to code will make you be better because: Designing simply user interface and knowing what’s possible from a developer’s standpoint is important to UI designers. As a UI designer, you will need to be able to communicate with those developers. And, the ability to use prototyping tools or to code applications or sites will put you at the top.

      1. Marketing coordinator

      Marketing coordinator roles can be various. However, they generally involve executing marketing initiatives, tracking the progress of campaigns, and refining strategies based on results.

      Learning to code will make you be better because: Like most careers, marketing has gone digital. Important marketing components involve some HTML coding and using tools like Google Analytics require a level of technical skills as well. Understanding how websites and the internet as a whole work will help you be a better marketer. If you are working for a promgramming company, knowing how to code can help you promote well.

      1. Analytics associate

      Are you keen on measuring data? Working with Excel to sniff out trends and patterns? Then this position may be suitable for you. Jobs related to data are growing dramatically, and nowadays, every industry is using data for the decision-making.

      Learning to code will make you be better because: Analytics jobs are all about logical thinking and quantitive analysis. Most jobs also involve using data visualization tools like d3.js and other kinds of coding experience can be a bonus in analytics.

      1. Growth hacker

      Growth hacker is a relatively new marketing term. A growth hacker differs form a general marketer because their primary focus is growing the user base, or in another way, getting more customers through different channels.

      Learning to code will make you be better because: Growth hacking acquires new users quickly. Knowledge in a range of fields such as digital marketing, web analytics, coding is important for growth hacking. The daily work involves logical thinking which is a huge component of coding. Many growth hackers are expected to be able to code at least some of the tools like simple landing pages or tracking links.

      As you can see, studying coding does not mean that they just can write code. If you learn to code, you will be more employable in many jobs – even if the works don’t actually involve coding.
